RESERVE & COLLECT

Where do I pick my order up?

Your reservation will be ready for collection in the main World Duty Free store which is located in the Departure Lounge after security – full details on where to find the collection point will be stated on the confirmation email you receive after placing an order.

At the airport, after selecting any additional products you may wish to purchase in our store, simply locate the Reserve & Collect collection point where you can pay for your items. Please ask a member of staff if you are unclear where this is.

In accordance with HMRC Export Shop regulations, we must ensure that the person collecting the Products at the stores in the Airports, is the same person who originally placed the order. Therefore, a valid boarding card and proof of identification (passport or National ID card) must be presented when collecting and paying for the Products otherwise your reservation will be cancelled and you will be unable to purchase the Products. We reserve the right to deny purchase of the Products which are not available for purchase for the destination stated on the boarding card.

When do I pay for the items?

You will pay for your items when you collect your order, so if your travel plans change you don't need to worry about requesting a refund.

What forms of payment do you accept in-store?

We have a limited amount of shops that take cash in the UK and therefore our recommended payment methods are card payment by Visa, Mastercard, American Express & or any other major UK debit cards. In addition, we accept AliPay and WeChat. Please check with the store team before you make a purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience.

What happens if my travel plans change?

We will keep your reservation prepared and ready for collection until the store closes on your departure date. If you move to a later flight that day, your items will still be available for collection. We understand travel plans can often change and so you are under no obligation to collect your order.

Can I cancel my order?

As no payment is taken until collection, there is no need to cancel your order. You are under no obligation to complete the purchase. If you would like, you may contact UK Customer Services and they will process the cancellation and the stock will be returned to the shop floor.

Can I amend my order?

You are unable to amend your order once it has been confirmed. If you wish to add items to your reservation, please simply place a new order.

If after your order has been picked you no longer wish to purchase some of the items you don't need to do anything. When you visit the store to collect your order, just tell the staff member which items you no longer wish to purchase.

I know you sell an item in your airport store, but couldn't find it on your site.

Should a particular item that you are interested in not be shown on our website then a member of our Customer Service team will be able to assist you with finding out if we sell the item in your selected departure airport. Please feel free to give them a call during office hours on +44 (0)1784 475509 or email customerservices.uk@wdfg.com.

What about stock availability?

We do our best to ensure availability of all our products. If, however, we are unable to supply an item, we will inform you before you collect your order.

Most of our stores do have daily deliveries and therefore items that may have been out of stock when your order was picked may be back on our shelves when you actually travel, so please check in store. If you cannot locate an item in store, simply ask a member of staff and they will be happy to help you locate it.

Which airports offer the Reserve & Collect Service?

Reserve & Collect is available at all UK World Duty Free, and Biza stores.

Can I reserve my goods and collect on arrival back into the UK?

As the UK is no longer part of the EU, the collect on return service had to be withdrawn from 1 January 2021. We are keeping this change under review.

Are there any age restrictions?

The Reserve & Collect service is only available to passengers over the age of 18. As with any store selling alcohol, such products can only be purchased by passengers over the age of 18. To ensure that we remain within the law we reserve the right to request proof of age (via passport or valid photo I.D) from any passenger who appears under the age of 25.

Can I buy from this website?

Whilst you are unable to buy directly from the World Duty Free website, you can use the site to reserve items which will be ready for collection and payment at most World Duty Free stores.

The World Duty Free website is designed to showcase the wide range of brands that we sell, indicating where they are sold and the price you would expect to pay when you visit our airport stores. Whilst browsing our site you can create a Wish List of your favourite items to either email to yourself as a reminder or print out to bring with you when you travel.

How do I create a Wish List?

To create a Wish List from a page featuring multiple products simply hover the cursor over your chosen product and then click the heart icon located at the left hand side of the image, this will then turn red to indicate that the item has been added to your Wish List.

The first time you try to add an item to your Wish List you may be asked to log in or to create an account, this will then allow you to recall your favourite items from your Wish List.

Do you gift wrap?

We do not offer a gift wrapping service for pre-ordered items ahead of purchase; however, do ask in-store as a member of staff will be able to help you.

What are Travel Retail Exclusives?

One of the great things about shopping at the airport is that you can find products that aren't available on the high street. These products could take the form of bigger bottles, travel sizes, exclusive gift sets, value multi-packs and limited editions. We are unable to show a price comparison on these items because they are unavailable to buy on the high street, but many of these products do offer exceptional value too.

Where are World Duty Free stores located?

World Duty Free is a Dufry company and it operates many stores in airports all over the world. Vist the Store Locations page for more details. When you reach the airport our duty and tax free stores are typically located after security in the departure lounge or en-route to the gates. You are also able to purchase from stores located in the Arrivals area of some airports.

What is meant by 'duty free'?

Duty Free is the term commonly used to describe products that are free of excise duty. Excise duty applies only to alcohol and tobacco. From 1 January 2021, all passengers travelling outside of the UK can purchase duty free alcohol and tobacco.

Duty free allowances

There are certain limitations on duty free shopping however, they are set individually by governments of each country or economic region. Note, that in case of exceeding these limits you may be asked to pay the duty and tax difference on them. Find out more about Custom Allowances.

What is tax free?

In the UK, tax free refers to Value Added Tax (VAT) which is payable on all other non-excise products including Beauty, Fashion/Luxury and Food. If these goods are sold tax free, it means that VAT is not payable.

Can all passengers now buy Duty Free goods?

Yes – all passengers travelling outside the UK can purchase duty free products (i.e. liquor and tobacco). They can avail themselves of this opportunity at airports, on ferries and cruise ships and at international railway stations (e.g. St Pancras when travelling by Eurostar).

Customers travelling on a domestic route in order to catch a plane for an international destination (e.g. Newcastle/London/New York) - may also buy Duty Free products.

The only passengers who will not be able to buy Duty Free, are those travelling between two UK destinations, with no onward international travel. Domestic passengers will not be able to purchase any tobacco and will be offered a limited range of liquor at prices comparable with the UK average high street price.

All passengers will be entitled to buy duty free Tobacco (except those travelling domestically/within the UK) and this will continue to be sold from our Tobacco Display Areas and/or closed gantries. There may be changes to the range, for example, handmade cigars that were previously available to domestic passengers have been removed from the range.

Has the EU agreed that in future passengers travelling from the EU to the UK will be able to buy duty free?

Yes, from 1st January 2021, the UK becomes a ‘third country’ meaning regulations currently applicable to passengers travelling to ‘third countries’ will also apply to passengers travelling to the UK. Passengers travelling from the EU to the UK will also be able to buy tax-free.

Will domestic passengers also be able to buy duty free? If not, what will they pay?

No. UK domestic legislation prevents duty free being extended to domestic travellers, so passengers must be leaving the UK in order to be able to purchase goods for their own personal use free of duty and taxes. This has been the law for many years and is unaffected by any Brexit related changes. However, they will be able to buy at the same price as all other passengers across our extensive range of beauty, food, and accessories.

Domestic passengers will pay what is known as a “duty paid” price for liquor purchased from 1st January 2021. They will be offered an alternative selection of liquor products to those offered “duty free”, in terms of product range and product size.

Why is the duty paid/domestic range so much smaller?

Due to the UK domestic legislation mentioned in the previous question, duty free is not extended to domestic travellers. However, domestic travellers can still buy from a smaller range of specific liquor products, and irrelevant of destination, anyone can buy skincare, make-up, and accessories, so all customers can still enjoy shopping with us when they travel.

How much can I expect to save in your stores?

Everyone can save at World Duty Free regardless of where they are travelling to. We offer a tax equivalent saving vs the average UK High Street Price or RRP on our products, throughout the year. There are some products that are exempt from this, please view our Pricing Policy for further information.

Do I need to take my goods with me?

Yes. As we are not able to offer a collect on return service from 1st January 2021, your goods must be exported with you. This applies if you are travelling outside the UK or within the UK.

What's the Average High Street Price?

We aim to offer our passengers exceptional value 365-days a year. To achieve this we survey our products that are available on the UK high street from a selection of different stores. The observations we find help to create the Average High Street Price. Where products are unavailable on the high street, or were not located, we then use the manufacturers recommended retail price (RRP), where one exists. These two comparison prices are the ones we show our savings against both on our website and in-store.

Are there restrictions on the amount I can buy?

If you are travelling outside the UK, customs allowances do apply and these vary by destination. Our Customs Allowances page provides more details. When you make a purchase you will be asked to present your boarding card, this is to ensure the items purchased are applicable for your final destination.

You are unable to purchase more than 10 of the same product or more than 100 products in any one transaction. You are unable to purchase more than 4 litres of spirits or other liquor over 22% ABV in any one transaction. In selected locations this restriction may not apply. Please note that there may be additional restrictions on the amount of a particular product/brand you are able to purchase, and we reserve the right to limit the amount of products we sell you at the time you collect your reservation.

Whilst our staff may advise on the items and quantity purchased, it is always your responsibility to check if these are within the customs allowance quantity guidelines for your destination.

What is the difference between parfum, eau de parfum (EDP), eau de toilette (EDT) and eau de cologne (EDC)?

These terms represent different concentrations of perfume essence. The greater the concentration, the longer it lasts. Many people still describe any fragrance as “perfume” regardless of the actual description.

Parfum: a concentrate of 15% to 30% perfume essence, the strongest fragrance available (lasts 5 to 6 hours)

Eau de parfum: lighter than perfume with 8% to 15% concentrate (lasts around 3 to 4 hours)

Eau de toilette: a more delicate fragrance with 4% to 8% concentrate (lasts round 2 to 3 hours)
